U.S. presidential elections are based upon a nomination process, the popular vote of the public and the Electoral College vote. Elections are governed by federal and state laws; however elections are mostly controlled and regulated at the state level. Here is a brief summary of how presidential nominations and voting works.

  • The Nomination Process

There are two components of nominating a presidential candidate. These include primary elections and caucuses held in each state and nomination conventions held by each party. Each state regulates its own primary elections and caucuses. The nomination process is an indirect selection where voters are not directly voting for a potential nominee, but usually a group of delegates who have pledged to vote for specific candidates at their party’s nomination convention.

  • Popular Vote

In a presidential election, voters are also not directly voting for their candidate of choice. Instead, they are voting for a group of electors who have pledged to vote for a particular candidate. The more votes a certain group of electors get, the more power they have in choosing the candidate they want.

  • Electoral Vote

The electoral voting system is mostly mandated by each state. Each state is allotted a number of Electoral College selectors that is equivalent to its number of Senators and Representatives in Congress. The U.S. Constitution grants each state the right to determine its own process for choosing electors. Once electors are chosen, Congress makes the final determination on which electors will represent each state.

Understanding how the presidential nomination and voting system works can help you make more informed decisions when casting your ballot.

Politicians are increasingly becoming a despised group. Opposing politicians often use negative campaigns to discredit each other rather than focus on the issues at hand. Many Americans are resistant to believing anything politicians say and have strong dislike for politicians overall. Here are some reasons why many Americans dislike politicians.

  • Disparity in Priorities

In a book written by E.J. Dionne, Jr. titled “Why Americans Hate Politics,” the author discusses that the Republic and Democratic party are still caught up in debates left over from the 1960′s such as women’s role in the family. Most Americans have moved on from this issue and are more concerned with things like adequate childcare for working mothers. This disparity in priorities leads many people to dislike politicians because they don’t seem to care about what’s important them.

  • Unfulfilled Promises and Distrust

You have all seen election campaigns where politicians discuss what they will do once elected to office. Unfortunately, some politicians use empty promises to get elected and once elected they fail to deliver on their promises. Additionally, the media is more focused on the bad politicians than they are the good politicians, which only fuels the contempt that Americans have for politicians. Unfulfilled promises create distrusts and a feeling of “all politicians are professional liars.”

  • Political Scandal

Some Americans are probably getting desensitized to political scandals like extramarital affairs and corruption. Although behaviors like extramarital affairs are done by many Americans, people do not want to see their elected officials violate society’s moral standards. When these ideals are violated, it creates lack of respect and dislike for politicians.

It should be noted that there is no single political campaign which can be administered for tapping of people confidence, thus converting them to loyal votes. Strategies should focus on different factors rather than single handedly directing towards voter influencing. Recent trends have shown the success rate of political consultants sky rocketing in an era of complex political models.

There is never a single solution to political complexity, as stated by some established political consultant. But it is noteworthy to mention that with years of experience added with clustered advice from different corners, a significant number of candidates’ loose out in elections. Its here a proper evaluation is needed to understand the basics of political strategy implementation. Prospective winners have been successful predictors. They usually have keen sense of analyzing the proportion of loyal voters; therefore they concentrate their work routine on them. Most of their investment and time is for that loyal section which they presume to be voting with respect to past voting patterns.

The success story is more expandable where candidates target their population with sector specific message patterns. A winning formula often gives equal concentration to topics discussed as to sections which are not being considered. It should be noted that in elections no specific area is of utmost importance, thereby equal judgment is required to catapult a successful campaigning. In an era of technology, winning can be eased with teleconferencing to reach the masses surpassing expensive television parameters. Instant messaging is useful.

It’s noteworthy to mention that corporate functioning involves politics within workforce in various levels. Such politics often appears due to mixed functioning of hierarchy levels as well as individual sensation of prosperity. Such politics need to be studied in detail to keep hierarchy functioning at optimum levels.

Can Politics And Student Co-Exist?

Politics since the century gone has seen various changes in actions and theory. But few things have not changed the pillars of politics. Student involvement, student voices and student implications in political strategies have not seen a huge change in functions. Various theories contradict each other in student participation but few have succeeded in establishing a strong alliance to student participation in political campaigns. There are both long as well as short term effectual platforms when a student involves himself in politics. There should be a line drawn between active involvement of students in politics and the study of political courses.

The latter is usually a theoretical aspect orienting administrative structures, creation of political parties and formation of government bodies in different countries. But the involvement is an action based platform where one organizes meetings, raises their voices and manipulates individual thought process to lead a successful political campaign story. This generally increases the communication patterns of students thereby strengthening their democratic sense at optimum levels. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that a student is expected to learn his subjects and should concentrate his efforts in pursuing detailed study of the theoretical aspects. In pursuing action based politics, majority of students forget the basics of student hood and involve in political violence.

Such political violence is rampant nowadays not only in developing countries but also developed countries leading to total collapse of education systems. It should be strictly functional in establishing a strong order for students to pursue educational goals so as to establish their future and secure a success story for the nation. In such cases involvement of students in action based politics should be properly monitored.

Most of the countries in the world are democratic countries. This means that the citizens of these countries have the right to choose their own leaders and people who will represent them and form the government. The process of selecting the representatives of the people to form a government is called elections. These representatives belong to different political parties. The party that is elected to form the government is called the ruling party and the other parties are called the opposition. When we elect a particular individual as our representative we are symbolizing the faith that we have instilled in our representative to help us come out of the problems or situations based in the society.

A month or two months before the elections begin; these representatives start their election campaign. An election campaign refers to a process of holding mass meeting in order to interact with the electors and convince them on why they should elect this particular candidate. It also involves familiarizing the people with the symbol for that particular political party or the individual candidate. There are several promises made during the election campaign. Issues of unemployment, difference in socio economic status etc are addressed.

It is important that every individual who is above 18 years of age should cast their vote. Casting your vote for the right candidate will help in forming a strong and reliable government. People do not understand the importance of their vote. Many people say that a single vote doesn’t make a difference, however if everyone thinks alike then it will make a difference. Always vote for the individual not for the political party after all you need elect your representative not your party.

Recent political happenings have seen the rise of various types of media in giving political events a new meaning altogether. In such a spectrum, the contribution of social media and its powers in establishing political mileage is of optimum importance. Auto Industry and the Political Sphere

Could you imagine that there would be a complicated relationship between the automotive industry and the political sphere? The auto industry is typically a big creator of jobs throughout the country, but politics and the economy can have a profoundly disastrous effect on the automotive industry, which crushes jobs, which further crushes the economy. When jobs are hard to find and money is tight, one of the best things that consumers can do is to look for ways to refinance their loans into more favorable terms.

A car refinance is one option that you are going to want to consider to this end. There is a lot of beauty behind the art of refinancing your auto loan, but understanding the how and the why is essential in being able to get the most out of such an act. Simply knowing that refinancing your auto loan will benefit you is not as good as knowing how and why, because knowing the reasons will help you get the most out of the refinance process. Auto loans are currently at an all time low, which is good for you as the consumer. You need to take advantage of these interest rates and refinance your auto loan, extending the term length and lowering the interest rate in order to benefit from a much more favorable monthly premium payment.

When interest rates are low, consumers can definitely benefit from the act of refinancing an auto loan. Whether you are lowering your interest rate, extending the term length of your loan or both at once, you can definitely benefit because it is going to cut down on your monthly payment and allow you to lift some of the financial burden that you are attempting to shoulder. This is a smart idea whether you are having financial troubles or not, and can benefit anyone that qualifies for an auto loan refinance.

Voting Is Important

The words echo through the television, the radio, and even on the internet, over and over again, “voting is important.” But, there are still thousands upon thousands of people that are 18 years and older that simply do not exercise their right to vote. There are many different excuses, but one of the most common one is that their vote doesn’t count. Another popular excuse is that the person doesn’t have the time. When you think of the process that many people went through to provide the right to vote to every single American citizen, aged 18 and over, those people that don’t vote should think twice.

The majority of people that do not vote simply do not understand how important it is. Every American’s vote goes towards choosing the leaders of the country. Whether it is your local town chairman, a city’s mayor, a state representative, a senator, or the president’ seat that is up for election, every chance you have to vote should be taken. If you do not exercise your right to vote, you can not complain about the way the country is being run. You’re one vote could have been the swing vote that would have put someone else in office, thus changing the way things are being run.

When someone says that they just don’t have time to vote, it’s really just an excuse. Voting polls are often open very early in the morning, some as early as 6AM or earlier. The voting polls also usually stay open until about 8PM. This is a long day, and longer than most people’s work day. That means citizens can run in and vote on their way into work, or on their way home. Better yet, go on your lunch break when it won’t be that busy. When you avoid the polls during rush hours, you will be in and out in a matter of a couple minutes. When you go during rush hours, lines will be longer and you may find yourself in line for an hour, especially during more popular elections, such as the Presidential election.
