Politics isn’t just for adults. Kids can learn a great deal about governments and political events through fun and educational activities. You can give your child the inspiration to become the next President or government official. Here are some fun activities to teach your kids about politics

  • Play Trivia Games

Playing trivia games is a fun way for kids to learn and develop their comprehension skills. Some political games on the market include Caesar, Hail to the Chief and the Presidents Game. These games are typically for elementary to middle school-age children and require multiple players. You can also get inventive by creating your own trivia game questions and playing rules.

  • Use Online Resources

You can find numerous resources on the Internet to teach your kids about politics. One such resource is Congress for Kids. This website teaches children about the U.S. Constitution and the different branches of government through interactive activities. The content of the activities is best suited for fourth grade to high school students.

  • Do a Stage Play

You can create a play to perform at home or at a community center where your kids can dress-up as political figures. You can do this by selecting an important political event and have the children reenact the story. Not only will your kids have fun, they will feel more personally connected to the politics in their country.

  • Visit the Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is the world’s largest library and features exhibits such as “Exploring the Early Americas.” Your kids will have fun seeing the exhibits and will learn a lot too.

Political scientists often complain that the most glamorous and controversial aspects often get the maximum publicity in a democracy. A racial slur made by one candidate against the other becomes top news. Analysts of different political affiliations speak and debate the issue for very long time.

On the other hand, nobody bothers about the basic steps that are taken to make any and every campaign a success. The agenda, portfolio or manifesto is treated as a formality. People complain that these documents contain nothing more than a long list of nice sounding words and promises which may or may not see the light of day.

However, it does not make sense to judge any candidate on the basis of a single controversy. Rather, one should focus on a holistic and comprehensive approach. Analyzing the manifesto makes sense because it gives the voter an idea of the goals and ideals of the candidate.

A candidate professing affiliation to a specific political party but coming out with an agenda that is contrary to the ideals of the party may turn out to be a bad bet. The individual, if elected, may end up without any support from his or her party. On the other hand, an individual who plays it too safe and is not prepared to go beyond what the party says or dictates would not be a good leader either.

It is important to go beyond the mere words used in campaign promises. Even the choice of words matters. The individual must have a clear view about social, economic, political and international issues. Only then can such a candidate be trusted to run the country.

Fewer Political Parties – A Sign Of Maturity Often Seen In Aged Democracies

Different countries in the world have a different political setup insofar as the number of parties in the democracy is concerned. Mature democracies like United States and United Kingdom follow a two party set up. Of course, there is nothing official or formal about the limit.

It just so happens that the national political spectrum has been divided into two parties. One can never achieve real democracy if one places restrictions on the total number of political parties. Freedom of political association is a fundamental tenet of democracy.

Many experts view the twin party set up as a sign of a mature democracy. There is very little scope for political horse trading because voters will be choosing between one of the two options. On the other hand, having too many political parties, as is seen in certain European and Asian countries, can lead to a fractured mandate where the votes get distributed amongst different parties with almost similar ideologies. In such a scenario, the process of formation of government by reaching agreements with different political parties can become a very complicated process.

It has been seen that most matured and old democracies have a two or three party setup. On the other hand, countries that attend independence five or six decades ago have a large number of parties.

While having fewer parties may make the national view clearer, this does not mean that each and every member of the party subscribes to its ideology completely. There are different groups and pressure lobbies within a single party and such groups often function as independent units when it comes to seeking power and influence amongst voters.

For one very important thing, what you keep in your bathroom is a big part of how people form an impression of how you are as a person. Your personality is something that your bathroom will express, no matter how you restrain yourself in the other rooms of your home.

And there are some very important bathroom accessories that you will need to keep in your bathroom, in order to make it uniquely your own domain. For one thing, what kinds of towel holders do you have up right now? If you do not have any, that is a serious problem that will need rectifying in a hurry. What do you expect people to do, bring towels in there with them, or wipe their hands on the legs of their pants after they (hopefully) wash them?

Another thing that is definitely important to keep in your bathroom is a set of toilet care tools. Your toilet is generally a silent and obedient work horse that does what only a very well paid servant or a very scared slave would do. However, when it gets dirty, it sends some terrible messages about what kind of a person you are. And aside from that, it can be a serious health issue after a while of being grotty. And keeping it clean is just one part of the maintenance you need to make sure is done. Without a plunger, you could be up a certain kind of creek, without a paddle.

Is Iran More of a Concern?

One of the most important issues that the United States faces today is Iran and what they have in store for their nuclear power. This is a very important issue that has moved up to first place when it comes to that country and its history.

There are many reasons why this is important and some of them include the country’s culture, history and providence. What used to be Persia, Iran used to be the pinnacle of trade routes that linked the East to the Mediterranean. Although many items were traded in these routes such as salt, pottery and silks, the trades with the most significance was language, philosophy, religion, lifestyle and beliefs. These are intangible goods that are more important than the tangible goods that were routed through the area. Because of these outside influences, Iran had to go to extreme measures to ensure that their people weren’t unduly influenced by outside sources and persuasions. They did not want other cultures influencing their culture and underminding their influences.

Because of this, the Qur’an became the only entity on faith and behavioral activities. Like everything else, other influences gave way to various interpretations of the Qur’an and fanaticism in that religion was born. The west’s influences are considered evil and harmful just like the culture of long ago when the trading was taking place.

The west is considered a nation of immorals that are selfish and self-centered and worship things other than faith. While this may seem like their prerogative, they have been under the same type of rules for hundreds of years and can be quite deceptive with their intentions; telling everyone they have no plans to use their nuclear power. However, it is important that we keep an eye on them and gather as much intelligence as possible to ensure that this is true, knowing that is mostly is not.

Pension Bills

State pension bills are in dire straits due to asset markets being so good in the past and the way that each state provisioned for future pensions. Since the stock market outlook has been not too good, and that is where a lot of pensions are kept, there could be a financial breakdown when these pensions become due. Each state could have a problem and potentially have a systematic financial problem.

California is one of the states that is most prevalent due to the pensions of past employees. For instance, there are almost 10,000 retirees of a company called CalPERS, which is a company with the largest amount of retirement pensions. This group of people make around $100,000 per year on average as part of their pension plan.

The problem is that states must balance their budgets properly and extra costs come out of taxpayer dollars. This can cause friction between the state workers and the taxpayers. Another state, Utah, has committed to 10% of their state fun for the next 25 years to help offset the stock market crash of 2008. However, it has been difficult to reduce the pensions because of trade unions and these have gone opposed in court.

Since a pension plan is something that is paid in the future; a promise of money after an employee retires from the company, this is a liability that is way off in the future on average. These future monies have to have a value to them and show what the money is worth at today’s rate and then reflected in the future monies. If the discount rates are higher, they are worth less today.

This causes a direct conflict in what the states may have in the future to cover these costs and there doesn’t seem to be a way of fixing things at present.

Yep, You’ve Arrived

There are a few ways to know when you have completely arrived in life. For instance, when your life story gets to, “then they did that story on me in Forbes…,” you have arrived in life. If you ever do anything aboard your private 200 foot yacht, there is a pretty good chance that you have arrived in life. And when you look in your accounts and honestly wonder what you are going to do with all of that money, you have pretty much arrived. And most of the world probably hates you for that fact, because a lot of people really do not seriously consider the comparative merits of picking up another Bentley versus another Ferrari.

Now, if you are at this level of wealth, you really have options beyond just poring over your potential investments yourself. While you can certainly find the time to do so, and can definitely justify the time spent in such an endeavor, you can also extricate yourself from such messy details and go on to do more fun things. Such is the purview of a life where wealth has finally been attained. Freedom really is its own reward, no matter what all of the wage slaves will tell you.

A lot of people who are where you are have enjoyed investing in Munies – or municipal bonds, to those who can not afford them. And since you have the gilt edged plutocracy thing down pat, you can even afford some Municipal bond portfolio management. Why should you handle all of the nitty gritty stuff all by yourself? What would be the point of being wealthy, if you just owned your investments like some kind of job that you can never escape doing (like a lot of less successful small business owners tend to do in their lives)? Give that up, and let the pros work for you.
